Trudeau polimeter

The Trudeau polimeter compiled the 353 promises from the Liberal Party of Canada’s (LPC) platform in the federal election of October 19, 2015 with the purpose of tracking their fulfillment over time. Click here to access the platform of the Liberal Party of Canada.

The Trudeau polimeter replaces the now archived polimeter Harper. Click here to access archived Harper polimeter. Like its predecessor, the Trudeau polimeter classifies each promise as "kept", "kept in part or in the works", "broken" or "not yet rated". Our verdicts are supported by citations drawn from government press releases, government bills, and other official and journalistic sources.

The graph above gives the up-to-date count of all the promises. Click on the wording of each rating to access the promises that share the same verdict at any one time. Click on the individual promise to access the quote that supports our verdict. By clicking on "source", you can access the supporting document from which a citation was extracted. Click here to know more about the methodology that is used to rate promises and for a comparison with the TrudeauMeter.

The polimeter is updated on a regular basis. Our research ream is comprised of members, assistants, and interns of the Poltext project hosted by the Center for the Analysis of Public Policy (CAPP) at Laval University. The team members are politically independent. The project is funded by a grant from the Fonds de recherche du Québec société et culture.

Your questions and comments are welcome. If you spot a quote that is out of date or a verdict that seems incorrect, please notify us by email at [email protected]. If you are commenting on a specific promise, please include the exact wording of the promise.
