"Announced on December 20, 2017 as part of the Pension for Life initiative, support for eligible spouses will increase from 50% to 70% of the Veteran’s Income Replacement Benefit, providing them with enhanced financial security when they need it most. This measure, effective April 1, 2019, will improve the delivery of benefits so that surviving spouses and their families have a simpler system to navigate."
