"Provide funding to Volunteer Canada to develop a volunteer-matching service."

"Volunteer Canada did receive a grant of $750,000 from the Government of Canada in 2011, through the Social Development Partnerships Program. The purpose of this two-year funding was to create a web portal on volunteersim, which included enhancing access to local and national matching tools, through our collaborators.  The matching tool button that appears on our home page links to www.getinvolved.ca which was developed by qmedia and is supported by Volunteer Canada and Manulife Financial. Part of the grant that we had received from the federal government covered the costs of developing an Application Integration Program (API) which created the technology bridge between  databases, operated by local volunteer centres, and this national matching tool." - Paula Speevak Sladowski,  Director of Programs, Policy and Applied Research at Volunteers Canada
